Big Sur Hotels Open: No Fire Damage

Despite raging wildfires in the region, most Big Sur area hotels, restaurants and attractions remain open, according to a statement issued by the Monterey County CVB.

To date, Big Sur hotels representing over 250 guest rooms have sustained no damage and are open for business, including the two major properties, Post Ranch Inn and Ventana Inn & Spa. Area restaurants, attractions and galleries that are open include Nepenthe restaurant, Big Sur Lighthouse Station and Henry Miller Memorial Library.

Most of the fire is burning in a remote section of the Ventana Wilderness, a 45-minute drive south of Monterey. Although Highway 1 is closed for a 15-mile stretch starting at the south end of Big Sur, the stretch of highway from Monterey through central Big Sur is open.
