PCMA and the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) announced plans to collaborate on projects that will advance the meetings industry, including educational initiatives and research programs.
According to an announcement released by PCMA, the association will join ACTE’s Education Steering Committee and serve as a meetings industry education partner for the ACTE Annual Conference April 5-7 in Washington, D.C.
Conversely, ACTE is expected to lend its corporate travel expertise and provide value to the rapidly growing corporate segment of PCMA’s membership at the PCMA Annual Meeting Jan. 11-14 in New Orleans. ACTE will develop and lead at least one educational session.
The announcement further stated that “due to the continuing convergence of both travel professionals becoming responsible for meeting planning and meetings professionals being asked to manage travel procedures,” ACTE will help promote the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation by offering PCMA’s “CMP Online Prep Course” to its members.
“Collaboration between key organizations results in the leveraging of mutual resources and cross-pollination of organizations’ knowledge,” said Deborah Sexton, PCMA president and CEO. “Through our expanded relationship with ACTE, we are sharing best practices, aligning industry standards, casting a wider educational net and finding solutions of common value. This relationship stands to benefit the members of both organizations.”
