The 1,000-room luxury hotel that Broward County wants to build next to its convention center will be shifted away from the Intracoastal Waterway to protect views from the 17th Street Causeway, county commissioners announced.
Progress on Hilton Hotel is slower than expected, and developers and financial advisers said they hope the economy improves before January 2010 when bonds would be sold and construction is projected to start, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
Hilton’s development partner, Faulkner USA, told county commissioners that its new design at a location farther west than the original plan would allow the ballrooms to look out on the water and restaurants to be placed along a promenade on the Intracoastal Waterway.
