Destination Palo Alto Launches

The San Mateo County CVB will begin aggressively marketing Palo Alto as a destination for visitors to the region for the next two years.

The city of Palo Alto will pay the bureau $455,000 to take over and expand the Destination Palo Alto program, which began in a more modest form in 2006.

The city is counting on the program to help boost its hotel occupancy rates. Palo Alto faces competition from the south, where the Santa Clara CVB seeks to lure Silicon Valley business travelers and groups flying into San Jose.
