The city council here unanimously voted to give the Greater Wichita CVB about $2.2 million next year, an 11 percent increase from last year, under an annual funding package, The Wichita Eagle reported.
The bureau will receive significantly more money for TV and print ads, billboards and online promotions intended to draw more tourism and conventions to the city. The money comes from a 6 percent guest tax on hotel and motel rooms in the city.
The CVB recently moved from its offices on Douglas Avenue to 515 N. Main St., in the partially complete WaterWalk development near Main and Lewis streets.
