Second Tower Planned at Hyatt Regency in Windy City

The long-planned expansion of the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place moved ahead last week with the hiring of a team to design and construct a second tower.

The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, which owns the hotel and the adjoining convention center, selected a construction company to add another 594 rooms at the 800-room hotel.

Construction is expected to start next year, with a tentative completion date of sometime in 2011.
