Officials chose the downtown Cleveland mall where the current convention facility is located as the site for the new Cleveland Convention Center and a medical mall, a facility to be used for specifically for medical conventions, The Plain Dealer reported.
The $425 million facility would include more than 300,000 square feet of exhibition space underground and a plaza situated above ground. A 100,000-square-foot medical mart is expected to be built on the southwestern side of the mall.
Construction could begin by the end of 2009.
