Governor Restores Visit Florida Budget

Gov. Charlie Crist vetoed a portion of legislation that would have slashed nearly 30 percent, or $9.9 million, from the budget of Visit Florida, the state’s tourism promotion bureau.

The measure, part of a bill aimed at mending a $2.3 million state budget deficit, faced intense pressure—including pleas to the public for support, from Florida tourism officials.
