The 45-room Monterey Hotel is expanding, with completion expected by the end of summer 2009.
The renovation will add 24 guest rooms, all with private fireplaces, as well as an additional 454 square feet of meeting space. Other upgrades include extra underground valet parking, a new elevator system, a 1,500-square-foot fitness facility and a spa.
An indoor garden conservatory on the lower level near the spa entrance will be built as well. The project includes space for three new retail shops adjoining the hotel along Alvarado Street and a new pedestrian walkway.
