Hotel Plan Scrapped at Sacramento Airport

City officials axed a plan to build a five-story hotel atop a new terminal building at the Sacramento International Airport, which is set to open in early 2012.

The decision stems from a consultant’s analysis that projected the $78 million hotel would not make enough money to pay its construction debt for another 20 years, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Airport representatives told city officials they would look into whether a hotel could be built in conjunction with a garage that would serve the new terminal.
