The Myrtle Beach area is still open for business, despite a wildlife that erupted in the northern Grand Strand area here Wednesday.
A few private homes were lost in the blaze, which at press time was 50 percent contained. No hotels or tourist facilities were affected.
“The fire is limited to a small area of the Grand Strand. The National Guard is on site to assist. We do not expect this to affect tourism in the long or short term,” said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area COC.
The Myrtle Beach International Airport remains open, and area golf courses are open and operating on normal schedules except for the Fazio and Love courses at Barefoot Resort, which are closed until further notice, the Myrtle Beach CVB announced.
Barefoot Resort, which previously evacuated for precautionary measures, was reopened. The resort did not receive any damage.
