Despite the swine flu outbreak many believe began in Mexico, Meeting Place Mexico, set to take place June 7-9 in Puerto Vallarta, is still on.
Its coordinators are monitoring the situation, said Walter DeMirci, managing director at LATITUDE, a New York communications firm that represents Meeting Place Mexico.
According to an Associated Press report, the swine flu, or H1N1, seems to be looking a lot less ominous. New York officials reported that the flu has not spread beyond a few schools.
According to a statement from the Mexico tourism board, the agency is “closely monitoring the development of the outbreak and are communicating in the most transparent and direct way possible. We are encouraging travelers to follow the preventive measures recommended by the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control as well as Mexican health authorities.”
