The Greenbrier’s new casino here is going to be built underground, but not in the luxury resort’s famous Cold War-era bunker, reports The Charleston Gazette.
Jim Justice, who bought the hotel last month, saving it from bankruptcy, said he plans to build a 50,000-square-foot casino underground near the hotel’s main entrance. A reflecting pool will cover the casino.
Justice said he didn’t want to ruin the historic resort’s scenic views by building the casino on the well-groomed grounds. The casino is expected to cost $25 million to build and is expected to be complete by spring of 2010.
