CityCenter announced that its two hotels, ARIA Resort & Casino and Vdara Hotel &Spa, received LEED Gold certification. The properties are the first hotels in Las Vegas to receive the honor.
ARIA and Vdara are scheduled to open in December on the Las Vegas Strip. CityCenter anticipates Gold or Silver LEED certification for its remaining developments, which include Sin City’s first Mandarin Oriental; Crystals, a 500,000-square-foot retail and entertainment district; the residential community Veer Towers; and The Harmon, a 400-room luxury boutique hotel slated to open in late 2010.
Some eco-friendly components of the two awarded hotels include aggressive water conservation technology and programs, stretch limos powered by clean-burning compressed natural gas and a large-scale recycling operation. CityCenter announced that 97 percent of the imploded Boardwalk Hotel has been recycled.
The 4,004-room ARIA will include 300,000 square feet of event space, and the 1,495-room Vdara will offer more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space. A walkway will connect Vdara to Bellagio.
