Hotel, Conference Center Planned at Kent State

Plans for a hotel and conference center are on the drawing board at the campus of Kent State University here, the Akron Beacon Journal reported.

“We've talked about a hotel conference center for a long time, but this time it actually feels like it’s going somewhere,” said Tom Euclide, the university’s associate vice president for facilities planning and operations. “We have a lot of people on board.”

The $14 million hotel and conference center would be part of a larger revitalization project named the Kent Central Gateway. The 100-room hotel would include a banquet room, restaurant, business center, fitness center, indoor pool and whirlpool. Construction could begin after a separate transit facility is built next summer.
