- The Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Hotel & Resort in Oxnard named Zachary P. Frangos general manager. Frangos brings nearly 30 years in the hospitality industry, including 15 years in professional management, to the Embassy Suites. Before his current appointment, Frangos was general manager of the Canyon Resort in Park City, Utah, where he opened two luxury condo hotels. Prior to that, he served in management positions at several hotel and resort properties, including The Peaks Resort & Golden Door Spa in Colorado and the Wyndham Westshore in Tampa… Previously the director of food and beverage for Sofitel San Francisco Bay, Fadhel Tahar was recently promoted to the position of director of operations. Tahar has served in management positions with the Sofitel San Francisco Bay for nine years… The InterContinental San Francisco appointed Thane Kuhlman director of food and beverage. Kuhlman is responsible for day-to-day banquet operations. He previously served as food and beverage manager of the Presidente InterContinental Cancun Resort and executive assistant manager in charge of food and beverage at the Presidente InterContinental Mexico City.
Colorado
- The Glenwood Hot Springs added two new people to its management staff: Ann Denney as the director of sales and marketing and Kerstin Brixey as sales assistant. Denney was previously director of sales and marketing for the Snowmass Lodge and Club in Aspen. Brixey was previously executive sales assistant for The Paramount Hotel, A Coast Hotel, in Portland, Ore… Gateway Canyons Resort in western Colorado named Marci Kurronen director of sales. Kurronen most recently served as associate director of sales for Vail Valley Partnership/Chamber and Tourism Bureau.
Mexico
- Hernan Vanegas was recently hired as general manager for the Barcelo Los Cabos Palace Deluxe Resort in San Jose del Cabo, slated to open in December. Vanegas previously served as managing director for the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort in Mexico’s Riviera Maya… Barcelo Hotels & Resorts appointed Ana Diaz-Coreas director of sales, West Coast. Diaz-Coreas is responsible for the sales and promotion of Barcelo resorts located on the west coast of Mexico, including the Barcelo Los Cabos Palace Deluxe. Diaz-Coreas previously served as director of sales for North America at both Barcelo Karmina Palace Deluxe in Manzanillo and Barcelo La Jolla de Mismaloya in Puerto Vallarta. She also brings with her prior sales experience with Mayan Group Resorts and Blue Bay Resorts, among other hotel and travel-related companies.
