A convention center is planned here, with construction expected to start in fall 2010.
City officials are expected to choose a developer to build a new downtown hotel. The plan is for the hotel and the convention center to be complete around the same time, in about 14 to 18 months from the beginning of construction.
The convention center may be designed for sporting event as well as for hosting meetings and conventions.
