The Gaylord Opryland Resort and Conference Center, which has closed indefinitely due to massive flooding, is working to relocate meetings and expects to complete a detailed assessment of the damage by the end of May.
The leadership teams at the hotel are reaching out to meeting planners and businesses with reservations on the books in the next 90 days. Sales leaders are working with planners to review the Nashville flood situation and help them relocate events to another Gaylord property if possible. Those hotels are Gaylord Palms (in the Orlando area), Gaylord National (in the Washington, D.C. area) and Gaylord Texan (in the Dallas area).
“We knew that our customers had strong loyalty to our brand but even I have been pleasantly surprised by the widespread show of support from our customers on our behalf. In fact, some have already rebooked at Gaylord Opryland in years out as a demonstration of that support,” Kemp Gallineau, senior vice president and chief sales officer, said in a statement to Meetings Media.
The historic series of storms that swept Tennessee caused the Cumberland River to reach levels that had not been seen in the last 50 years. The resort, which sits adjacent to the river, suffered extensive flood damage, with its indoor atriums under 10 feet of water.
