Southwest Set to Launch Service in South Carolina

Low-cost airline Southwest is moving into Charleston and Greenville within the next year.

In an announcement at the Charleston airport, officials said they expected the new Southwest flights to be scheduled in 2011. The Dallas-based company said it would spend the next few months researching which cities should be part of its initial offering.

Southwest is estimated to bring 200,000 additional passengers to the Charleston area annually.
