Convention facility management company SMG, Visit Jacksonville and the local hotel community have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the new Jacksonville Convention Center Alliance, which will simplify the booking process for the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center.
Through the alliance, the agreement includes the development of a citywide convention sales and marketing plan, a dedicated on-site sales manager for the convention center, a greater flexibility of dates and rates for potential business and enhanced transparency of the convention center’s availability on a calendar up to 18 months out. Meanwhile, downtown hoteliers are developing a citywide agreement for hotels to offer one contract for the meeting planner customer to streamline the booking process.
Since the development of the partnership, the alliance has secured a citywide medical convention in June and an increase in interest for other convention business.
