The Wisconsin Center District board voted to raise the Milwaukee County hotel tax.
Currently, the hotel tax is 2 percent. The board approved to raise it by half a percent. The added revenue, estimated to be as much as $750,000 a year, will be dedicated to help Visit Milwaukee, the region’s major CVB, increase its marketing efforts nationwide. The 2.5 percent tax is expected to go into effect Jan. 1, 2011.
