Fairmont Vancouver Commissions Bee Hives

Five new bee hives have been created by the students of Emily Carr University of Art & Design and Capilano University’s IDEA Program for the 400,000 honeybees that reside in the Fairmont Waterfront’s rooftop garden.

Each art hives has its own theme. The Fairmont Waterfront anticipates over 600 pounds of honey will be produced by their bees for the 2010 season. The hotel’s rooftop garden has over 60 varieties of herbs, edible blooms, fruits and vegetables, and the hotel’s executive chef, Patrick Dore, harvests the fresh produce and honey for use in the hotel’s restaurant and bar.
