Visitors to the Drury Plaza Hotel will be hit with a special 2 percent tax when purchasing rooms and other goods, the Wichita Eagle reports. The money raised from the tax will be channeled to developers to pay for hotel renovations to the Drury Plaza, formerly known as the Broadview Hotel.
The extra tax is expected to raise about $2.6 million over 22 years. The money will be used to help pay for construction of a restaurant, pool and elevated walkway, among other planned improvements to the Drury Plaza. Hotel management say that hotel guests and planners will be told of the total cost of rooms, including the new tax, before they pay.
