Amusement Park May Replace Galveston Hotel

The Flagship Hotel, built on a pier in the 1960s and damaged by Hurricane Ike in 2008, is to be demolished and replaced by an amusement park called Pleasure Pier, pending approval by the Galveston City Council.

The Galveston Planning Commission granted permission to Landry’s Restaurants, which owns the hotel, to replace it with the amusement park.
