The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Omni Hotels & Resorts reached a definitive development agreement to build a new convention center hotel in downtown Nashville, Tenn., through a unanimous vote by the 40-member Metro Council.
The Omni Nashville Hotel will sit across from the new 1.2 million square foot Music City Center currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2013. The new hotel, which will feature approximately 800 guest rooms and suites and more than 80,000 square feet of meeting and event space, is estimated to open later in 2013.
"This is the right hotel deal for Nashville's new convention center and the overwhelming support of the Metro Council confirms that," Nashville Mayor Karl Dean said. "When most other cities that have recently built new convention centers have had to publicly finance their hotel projects, Nashville was able to secure a privately-financed, privately-operated headquarters hotel.”
The Music City Center, Nashville's new convention center will feature 1.2 million square feet total, a 350,000 square foot exhibit hall, a 57,000 square foot ballroom, and parking for 1,800 cars, while achieving LEED Silver certification.
