The JW Marriott Marquis, the first hotel in the JW Marriott brand to have the “Marquis” designation, opened in a mixed-use complex in downtown Miami.
The 313-room hotel offers 80,000 square feet of meeting space, including a virtual meetings suite and a 20,000-square-foot ballroom that is the largest in downtown Miami. There are also two floors of fitness and recreational facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool, a golf school, bowling alley and an NBA-approved basketball court.
According to a statement from Marriott, the new “Marquis” designation is reserved for “select downtown properties” with high levels of technology and meeting facilities. The next property with the designation will be a 1,612-room JW Marriott Marquis scheduled to open in Dubai in December 2011.
