Hotel Planned for Colorado Springs Landmark

A group of historic buildings in downtown Colorado Springs, Colo., are being converted into a luxury hotel to be called the Mining Exchange, a Wyndham Grand Hotel.

Scheduled to open during the second quarter of 2011, the 119-room hotel will be set in four buildings dating from the early 20th century, including the 110-year-old Mining Exchange, which once served as the primary stock exchange for the western U.S. The Mining Exchange, which features an ornate walk-in vault, will serve as the hotel’s main building, housing 57 units.

Connected to the main hotel by a skywalk, the Art Deco-style Municipal Utilities Building will house over 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including three ballrooms, two boardrooms and a broadcast studio.
