The National Restaurant Association (NRA) announced that it will continue to hold its annual trade show in Chicago through 2016, a decisions that Chicago tourism officials credit to state-mandated reforms enacted at McCormick Place earlier this year.
According to a statement issued by the Chicago Convention and Tourism Board (CTTB), the Restaurant show represents the 9th major convention to re-commit to Chicago since the Illinois legislature enacted the reforms, which are designed to streamline costs and operational logistics at the McCormick Place convention facility.
“NRA’s continuing commitment to Chicago is testament not only to the sweeping success of last spring’s reforms, but also to Chicago’s place at the epicenter of the restaurant industry,” said CTTB President and CEO Tim Roby.
The NRA Show is one of Chicago’s largest annual events, generating over 45,000 room nights and about $108 million in visitor spending, according to the CTTB.
