Report Says Convention Boycott Costly for Arizona

The boycott over Arizona’s immigration enforcement law has cost the state over $250 million in lost convention business, according to an economic impact study by the consulting firm Elliott D. Pollack & Co. that was commissioned by the Center for American Progress.

The study contends that over 2,700 jobs have been lost due to convention cancellations. Groups that have cancelled conventions in Arizona include the National Urban League and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, while cities boycotting the state include San Francisco; Los Angeles; St. Paul, Minn.; and Columbus, Ohio.
