Prominent meetings and incentives industry leader Christine Duffy resigned as president and CEO of Maritz Travel to assume the leadership of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).
Beginning Jan. 1, Maritz Chief Operating Officer Jane Herod will be named the interim president. Duffy will take the helm of CLIA Feb. 1.
At Maritz Travel, Duffy managed more than $700 million in client programs and also was in charge of the pharmaceutical/healthcare sector of the company. She has also served as chairwoman of MPI from 2005-2006 and recently was a leading advocate of the value of meetings in the wake of the perception challenges emanating from the TARP bailout and resulting “AIG Effect.”
