Historic Vegas Casino Resort to Close

The owner of the Sahara hotel-casino, a fixture on the Las Vegas Strip since 1952, announced the property will close on March 16.

“We are working with our partners to assess a variety of options for the property, including a complete renovation and repositioning,” said owner Sam Nazarian, CEO of SBE Entertainment Group, in a statement.

He added that the 1,720-room hotel, which has a “strategic relationship” with MGM Resorts International, would work with MGM to accommodate guests and groups displaced by the closure.
