Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) named Nancy L. Elder as its senior vice president for professional development and meetings, effective April 13.
Prior to joining DMAI, Elder directed the meetings, education and industry relations programs at the American Society for Microbiology for 14 years, preceded by positions with the American Society for Training and Development and the American Chemical Society.
"Elder is well respected in the industry and brings an incredible amount of experience and expertise to DMAI," Michael Gehrisch, President & CEO of DMAI said. "We could not have selected a better candidate for this position."
Elder is a member of both the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). She served as PCMA Chairman of the Board in 2008; PCMA Program Committee Chair in 2003; and ASAE Meetings and Exposition Council Chair in 1995.
