CVBs: New Orleans, Baton Rouge Not Threatened by River

The New Orleans and Baton Rouge CVBs issued statements that their levee systems will keep them protected from the record-high waters of the Mississipppi and that all attractions and venues are open for business.

In New Orleans, the CVB stated: "New Orleans is not subject to the type of river and tributary flooding seen along other parts of the Mississippi due to the extensive water diversion systems that guide waters away from New Orleans and other river communities." The statement also said that activation of a spillway to divert the waters "creates no distuption to daily life of residents, business or visitors in New Orleans and we look forward to hosting you soon."

In Baton Rouge, the CVB stated:  "At this time there are no road closures or travel concerns in Baton Rouge. All area attractions remain open."
