Hilfiger to Convert NYC Landmark to Hotel

Designer Tommy Hilfiger purchased New York’s landmark Metropolitan Life clock tower for $170 million and plans to convert it to a hotel.

The 50-story tower at Madison Ave. and East 24th St., modeled after St. Mark’s Campanile in Venice, was the city’s tallest building when it opened in 1909. No further details on the development plan have yet been announced.
