The Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program is set to announce a new disciplinary policy and committee that will greatly affect how ethics breaches in the meetings industry are reported, according to a meetings industry source who was in contact with the Convention Industry Council (CIC), which is the governing body of the CMP program.
A brand-new Disciplinary Subcommittee—which will be a subcommittee to the CMP Board—is being formed and will brandish the authority to investigate, deliberate and bring to resolution any complaints against Certificants (CMPs). The Disciplinary Subcommittee will be subject to the oversight of the CIC board at all times.
Previously, any ethics breach by CMPs was to be reported to their constituent organization, such as MPI or PCMA.
