Hilton Worldwide notified the owner of the Las Vegas Hilton that it plans to end its franchise agreement with the hotel by the end of the year, according to a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Neither Hilton nor the hotel owner, Colony Resorts, have issued a statement about why the franchise agreement is being terminated. The termination would mean that the hotel would give up the Hilton name and its affiliation with the Hilton loyalty program.
Owen Blacksmith, a spokesman for the Las Vegas Hilton, told the newspaper that “we have been in discussions with other major hotel brands and may re-engage with Hilton in the coming months regarding a new franchise agreement.”
He added that the termination notification does not “impact the management, ownership, operations, vendor or guest services at our hotel.”
