The owner of the Century Plaza outlined a $2 billion proposal that calls for rehabilitating the landmark hotel in L.A.’s Century City and adding two 46-story, mixed-use towers and a public plaza.
The hotel’s existing 726 rooms would be converted to 394 rooms and 62 condominiums, while the two towers would contain condos, restaurants, retail shops and office space.
Initial plans to raze the hotel, which is considered to be a prime example of 1960s modernist architecture, were strongly opposed by preservationists.
