Bahamas Escapes Major Resort Damage

Resorts in the Bahamas are reporting that Hurricane Irene caused only minimal damage, with most up and running soon after the storm moved through on Thursday.

According to a spokeswoman for the Atlantis in Nassau, the resort and adjacent Ocean Club primarily suffered damage to landscaping.

According to Frank Comito, executive vice president of the Bahamas Hotel Association, several thousand resort guests left the islands before the storm hit, but about 10,000 elected to remain.
