Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines started service to four cities from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on routes already served by other carriers.
The new flights include daily service to Boston, twice-daily service to Dallas/Fort Worth and Detroit and daily service to New York (La Guardia), expanding to twice daily in September.
Spirit also plans to start daily service to Orlando on Nov. 10. Each of the routes is already served by both American Airlines and United Airlines, while Delta also serves Detroit and New York/LaGuardia and JetBlue serves Boston. Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino commended the new service, praising the airline’s sustainability policies and the positive impact expected on the local economy.
