Two fashionable boutique hotel groups have merged to create a company dedicated to cutting-edge properties known as ‘lifestyle hotels.’
New York-based Thompson Hotels (with 12 hotels) and San Francisco-based Joie de Vivre Hospitality (with 33 hotels) have joined forces to form JT Hospitality; the new entity will be New York-based but retain offices in San Francisco. Thompson Co-Owner Stephen Brandman will be the CEO of the new company, currently known as JT Hospitality.
With the merger the group reportedly hopes to grow its presence in the boutique hotel segment, both in terms of geography and price/style of hotel.
Thompson has also made moves towards growth outside the states with the opening of its Toronto hotel early last year; this December, it has a hotel slated to open in London.
