StepStone Hospitality, manager of the Northland Inn Hotel and Conference Center, has announced that the all-suite hotel will be converted to the Marriott hotel brand. Set in the Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Park, the hotel will receive a $24 million upgrade before emerging as the Marriott Minneapolis Northwest in the summer of 2012.
Improvements are already underway and exterior changes will include a porte-cochere and natural stone landscapes, restoring and repainting the building exterior, and refinishing the parking lot.
The ‘inside story’ will include a new, massive natural-stone fireplace in the lobby in an effort to create a ‘Great Room’—featuring beverage service and a free Wi-Fi hot spot. Every guest room will be made over, and other renovations include a substantial buildup of the fitness center, the addition of a third ballroom and the conception of a new restaurant.
The 230-room property, which will remain open during the makeover, showcases more than 33,000 square feet of meeting space. Following completion of the renovations the hotel will contain three ballrooms, a 140-seat theatre, executive boardroom and 25 break-out rooms.
