SAN FRANCISCO--While celebrating the work of hoteliers, planners and suppliers by recognizing the contributions of local industry leaders, the Northern California chapter of PCMA is also raising money for an important cause. A portion of event proceeds from its second annual Bay Area Meeting Industry Excellence Awards (BAMIES), to be held Oct. 25 at Hotel NIkko in San Francisco, will be donated to the American Red Cross Japan Relief Fund. The funds will aid in the ongoing rebuilding efforts of California's Pacific Rim partner following the devastating 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan in March.
“Japan represents so many of our partners, clients and visitors, and it is important to us, as a region, to support a cause close to our hearts,” said PCMA Chapter President Brian Bouchelle, national sales director for Disney Destinations.
The Bay Area has a long-standing connection to Japan and NorCal PCMA sees itsevening of cocktails, dinner, auctions and awards as an opportunity to contribute to the country’s ongoing relief efforts.
