WASHINGTON, DC
In a move to promote international tourism, the United States today unveiled "Brand USA," the country's first-ever global consumer brand. Destination Marketing Association International heralded the group -- formerly known as the Corporation for Travel Promotion -- for the launch of the first global brand positioning and strategy organization.
"DMAI applauds the United States for recognizing destination marketing as a serious engine to drive job creation and economic growth through travel and tourism," said Michael D. Gehrisch, president and CEO."Destinations are at the heart of a very lucrative travel and tourism sector that now accounts for 9.2 percent of global GDP.”
The move could eventually ease the visa procurement process for international meeting delegates.
