MILWAUKEE
After much delay, construction has started on the 200-room Milwaukee Marriott. The project team promised a unique product to the downtown area.
It was unclear at press time how much meeting space was planned for the hotel. The project will include a new, unusual restaurant concept in the lobby, along with retail space and a Starbucks.
Historic preservation concerns held up construction of the property, which was given the go ahead by the city back in January. But the dust has settled on all that now, and the hotel is slated to open in mid-2013.
