Richmond, VA
The Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau has achieved industry accreditation for 2011-2015 through Destination Marketing Association International’s Destination Marketing Accreditation Program. DMAI is the world’s largest association of destination marketing organizations. Accreditation addresses standards of performance, best practices and techniques, and service excellence in addition to creating a global consistency and standard for DMOs.
With this distinction, RMCVB joins an elite group of DMOs that have met the rigorous standards of industry accreditation. Organizations are required to apply for reaccreditation every four years. RMCVB has been a part of this select group since 2007 and was one of the first 40 DMO’s to receive accreditation when the program began.
DMAP accreditation comes on the heels of other industry accolades for the Richmond Region. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts was recently named the 2011 Travel Attraction of the Year by the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) at their Shining Example Awards ceremony. This is the third consecutive year the Richmond Region has received a STS Shining Example Award. In 2010 RMCVB won Internet Excellence, and in 2009 RMCVB won CVB of the Year.
