Mel Taylor, Washington State University's executive director for real estate and local relations, said he is "cautiously optimistic" about the development of a hotel and convention center near campus.
Although Taylor thinks Pullman has need for more rooms and conference space, he is cautious about the project because this is the third time WSU has attempted to form a successful partnership in the endeavor.
Two contractors have responded to requests for proposals for the hotel and convention center throughout the past six years, but Taylor said both groups eventually backed out of the project.
