Amanda Bloyen, The Shores Resort & Spa - Daytona Beach Shores, FL

What service can you provide to groups that they normally might not receive?

One of our signature amenities are our Oceanside fire pits and we have S’mores Kits available for purchase in all of the rooms. We do often host many “S’mores at The Shores” receptions outside by the beach – something about making s’mores gets people comfortable and quick acquaintances turn into good friends over sticky marshmallows, graham crackers and warm, gooey chocolate!

What are your bar or nightclub recommendations?

It’s hard to get people to want to leave our bar at the resort! We have a great Oceanside terrace with comfy seating and three beachside fire pits! We do send people down to the main drag of Daytona (Main Street and Beach Street) if they are looking for a night club environment – there are a few hot spots there!

Can you recommend a good place to take a stroll?

There is no place better than the beach that is just steps from our guest rooms! Our resort is located in the quaint coastal town of Daytona Beach Shores and we are in the middle of a residential area! We provide info to guests who want to do walks of varying distance for landmarks to you as mile markers!

Are there any quirky places we should check out?

Our little area has a lot packed into it to do! The historic Ponce Inlet lighthouse to the Rockefellers summer home to one of the original “biker bars” are all close by – and for racing buffs – the Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame is located right by our ball rooms where each year a new member who had an impact on the world of racing in inducted right here at the hotel!

What is an unusual request from a group you’ve had?

Recently we had a group with a vast array of consumer product lines – we converted our executive suite into a showcase for them by putting in their furniture, beverages, linens – even clothing in the closets.

A party of 12 wants to have dinner right away. What restaurant can accommodate last-minute requests of this size?

Our Azure restaurant typically could handle a request like that easily – but if not we have great relationships with many of the area restaurants and could have the seated in many of them – it just depends on what type of dining experience they may be interested in!

What’s a unique event that has taken place at your property?

Last May we were the host hotel for “Jeep Beach” where we had over 500 attendees many with “souped up” customized Jeeps – they were fun to see and fun for our other guests as well! The hotels was also the start and end of a parade on the beach featuring over 800 customized Jeeps! It was quite a show!
