The 184-room Hotel Lincoln recently opened after an eclectic, $10 million overhaul that breathes new life into the entire building—from guest rooms to the soon-to-open rooftop nightclub. The hotel features 1,000 square feet of meeting space.
Hotel Lincoln marks boutique hotel operator Joie de Vivre's first hotel in Chicago. It opened as the Hotel Lincoln, and then in the 1990s, was converted into a Days Inn. It's been vacant, however, since 2006, when a prior hotel renovation plan failed.
The redesign was inspired by the theme of staying in the home of a design-enthusiast friend, The front desk, for example, was created from 30 dresser drawers found at vintage stores throughout the Midwest.
Guests also will find a newly created lobby-level coffee bar that will be operated by Boka Restaurant Group, the same company that created the nationally known Girl & The Goat restaurant. It also will oversee the hotel’s onsite restaurant and rooftop bar, which will have seating for up to 250 people.
