Massachusetts

  • David R. Giblin was elected 2012 chairman of the Greater Boston CVB Board of Directors. The Marblehead-native has served on the GBCVB since 2006 and is a 30-year industry veteran with the Marriott brand. For the past 12 years, Giblin served as general manager of the Greater Boston Marriott. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority and the Massachusets Lodging Association.

Ontario

  • The Ottawa Convention Center appointed Peggy Nieghorn as director of sales and Daniel Coates as manager, marketing and communications. Nieghorn has been with the OCC since 1995, when she started as manager of business development. She was part of the center’s redevelopment team and since 2011 has managed communication strategies for the new OCC. Coates has been with OCC since 2009 when he served as a marketing manager working with the center’s website and new media efforts.

Pennsylvania

  • Visit Pittsburgh expanded its staff. Derek Dawson joined the convention sales team as the new sports and group tours sales manager where he will promote the greater Pittsburgh region as a convention destination for sports-related conferences and events. Ashely Steckel joined Visit Pittsburgh as a partnership development coordinator, where she will lead partner programs and events. She comes from the Pennsylvania Center for Women & Politics at Chatham University, where she was responsible for the center’s event logistics. Vicki Kelley, who has been with the Visit Pittsburgh for 23 years, was promoted to events manager.

Washington, D.C.

  • Mariah Burton Nelson joined ASAE as vice president of innovation and new product development, where she will lead development and expand ASAE’s efforts as a meeting facilitator, sharing ideas and implementation strategies with associations. Nelson most recently served as executive director of American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation, an organization for PE teachers and faculty.
