PROVO, Utah
Call it a face-lift, shot in the arm or renovation, by summer the Marriott hotel in downtown Provo is going to have a whole new interior look intended to create a warmer, more open social atmosphere while adding to the culture of the downtown rebranding.
The hotel sits across the street from the new Utah Valley Convention Center, an 83,578-square-foot facility scheduled to make its debut this May. The new $41 million facility will feature exhibition floor, a ballroom, and several meeting rooms, including a rooftop garden.
"With the energy of downtown it's a wonderful opportunity to showcase the hotel,” said general manager John Garfield.
Currently construction is focused on the new great room that will encompass a gathering and social area, a coffee shop featuring Starbucks coffee, an upgraded restaurant and the club. The bar and club have a more open feel to the rest of the room, Garfield said. Other areas have been upgraded recently with a few more tweaks to come after the current construction wraps up.The 330-room hotel also had a major upgrade to its fitness area and concierge lounge.
